Date Night at Home
We've been doing a pretty good job this month of staying in, and eating out less. Although sometimes it's nice to go out for dinner or brunch, I have really embraced the concept of "date night at home." It's something I really look forward to almost every Friday, and I've figured out a few key items to making date night at home a success. These items include great ambiance {candles, great home decor that makes me happy, music}, using our new kitchenware, cookware, and dining/entertaining items, and a comfy yet chic sweater..that goes perfectly with leggings {or sweatpants..}, and a fun, new recipe. Below are these items that would make an ideal date night at home, I already can't wait for this Friday!

A New Orleans Honeymoon
Planning a honeymoon was a little tricky for us; we knew we wanted to go somewhere for at least a few days, but didn't have time for the typical weeklong tropical destination honeymoon. New Orleans was a pretty obvious choice being that it is close to home {quick flights are always great}, and arguably one of the best cities in the U.S.! It was an amazing trip, and of course went by way too fast. It was wonderful to basically plan a trip around food {our restaurant choices: Peche, Willa Jean, N7, Cochon, and Commander's Palace - would recommend all of them!}, and wander around this beautiful, magical city with my new husband :) I cannot get back to that city fast enough, and laissez les bon temps roulez!

January
January can sometimes be depressing since it means the holidays are over, but I try to make up for it by wearing lots of fun, bright colors and florals, and focusing on starting fresh with lots of "spring cleaning", rearranging/redecorating, and cooking/date nights at home. I have had my eye on that calendar for a while and think I might need to order it now that January is almost halfway through; I am loving the floral scarf and necklace right now, and that paella pan is seriously a work of art - and makes me want to try a new paella recipe real soon!

Home in 2017
I mentioned in my first post of 2017 {here} that I plan on spending more time here at home - and I am excited about it! Part of that includes decorating/redecorating our place. We received so many wonderful decorative items and art prints as gifts for our wedding, and it's been fun to begin to place them on shelves and hang them on walls. We've already made some changes since I took these photos, and I can't wait to see how our place turns out once we're all done decorating - if there is such a thing! {prints by Rifle Paper Co., buy here and here}

2017
Happy 2017! I have taken quite the break from posting with the holidays and a few changes around here {a new job!}, but now that we are in the swing of 2017 I am back and will try to post here at least 3 times per week {New Year's Resolution?}. I know a typical New Year's Resolution is to try to travel more or take some sort of a big trip, but my hope is to try to stay home more; less time spent driving to/at the airport, and more time at home trying new activities and just being newlyweds :) But maybe a few quick weekend getaways or road trips mixed in there, too! Happy 2017 :)
