Almost September

I will be honest and say I am not the least bit sad summer is over - except for maybe farmer's market season is coming to an end! I am so ready for cooler weather, and the crazy business of summer to end. I should not complain, because it was a great summer; we got to see plenty of family and friends so that is always reason to celebrate and feel thankful. But not only is fall the best season, it also means we are getting closer to our big day. Due to the business of this season, I have not been posting as often as I'd like, so I will make a conscious effort to do it more often. Goodbye to hot summer days, and peonies {sad about that, too}, and hello perfect weather, HALLOWEEN, and wedding day :)

Vote Pink

Fall means two things this year - the winding down of an election season {that I cannot wait to be over}, and fall fashion! J.Crew's fall line is here, and it is amazing - and PINK! I am obsessed with this unexpected color, and I wish I could add all of it to my closet. Friday, I'm In Love: End of Summer

Happy Friday! Although I am getting SO excited for fall and cooler weather, I feel a little sad it's the end of fresh fruit and veggie season - like tomatoes! We are so proud of the small amount we were able to grow in our garden this summer, and I plan on snagging a large bundle from a roadside stand to make homemade tomato sauce and tomato soup to freeze and enjoy during the cooler months. Local Baked Goods

 I knew when I moved to Athens, I would need to quickly find my go-to spot for local baked goods like bread, croissants, and pain au chocolat. Independent Baking Co. is the best in town, and going there for their incredible breads and pastries is such a treat. We no longer live in walking distance to this local favorite, but I try to make an excuse to stop by and stock up every chance I get :)

Happy Thursday! Today is really my Friday as I leave tonight to go to Cleveland for the last time before our wedding - nerve wracking yet so exciting. Last of Summer

This is the last official month of summer, even though it will probably be quite hot here until November arrives. I am SO excited for fall and cooler weather to arrive, but not before enjoying the last of summer. Here are some items that I would love to wear/get my hands on before summer ends:

Blueberry Galette

In this last month's adventures in baking, I attempted a blueberry galette - and it was a success! I had leftover pie dough from the peach pie I did {check out here}, and so I used this Bon Appétit recipe to create the filling and from there it was super easy. Galettes are so simple, and don't require much technique {AKA, perfect for a very amateur baker like myself} so I think this might be a go-to when I need to make something from scratch that requires little effort. Cheers to another baking success! :)

Friday, I'm In Love: 3 Months til I Do

Happy Friday! I am so glad the weekend is here and we are actually not traveling! I also can't believe our wedding is 3 months from today. It has gotten much more real with our showers last weekend, and one more next weekend; I am also going to another dress fitting this weekend, along with my wedding shoes that I got on MAJOR sale and am quite excited about :) Have a great weekend! 

More Candle

I got this amazing candle in the mail what feels like less than 2 weeks ago {purchase here}, and it's already almost burned out! It is a lighter scent than I anticipated, but it very refreshing; sweet summer tomatoes mixed with a light earthy scent - pretty perfect! I can't wait for the next Food52 x Hawkins New York candle collaboration to come out.

August

I can't believe it's August! This summer has flown by, and it is just going to get busier in the coming months. I will be traveling a lot for the next month, so I will try very hard to post on the blog, but with the craziness of life right now it might have to slow down a bit. Just trying to enjoy the last few months of wedding planning, and soaking up the last of summer :)
