Almost September

I will be honest and say I am not the least bit sad summer is over - except for maybe farmer's market season is coming to an end! I am so ready for cooler weather, and the crazy business of summer to end. I should not complain, because it was a great summer; we got to see plenty of family and friends so that is always reason to celebrate and feel thankful. But not only is fall the best season, it also means we are getting closer to our big day. Due to the business of this season, I have not been posting as often as I'd like, so I will make a conscious effort to do it more often. Goodbye to hot summer days, and peonies {sad about that, too}, and hello perfect weather, HALLOWEEN, and wedding day :)

Vote Pink

Fall means two things this year - the winding down of an election season {that I cannot wait to be over}, and fall fashion! J.Crew's fall line is here, and it is amazing - and PINK! I am obsessed with this unexpected color, and I wish I could add all of it to my closet. Friday, I'm In Love: End of Summer

Happy Friday! Although I am getting SO excited for fall and cooler weather, I feel a little sad it's the end of fresh fruit and veggie season - like tomatoes! We are so proud of the small amount we were able to grow in our garden this summer, and I plan on snagging a large bundle from a roadside stand to make homemade tomato sauce and tomato soup to freeze and enjoy during the cooler months. Have a great weekend! :)

Local Baked Goods

 I knew when I moved to Athens, I would need to quickly find my go-to spot for local baked goods like bread, croissants, and pain au chocolat. Independent Baking Co. is the best in town, and going there for their incredible breads and pastries is such a treat. We no longer live in walking distance to this local favorite, but I try to make an excuse to stop by and stock up every chance I get :)

Happy Thursday! Today is really my Friday as I leave tonight to go to Cleveland for the last time before our wedding - nerve wracking yet so exciting. Last of Summer

This is the last official month of summer, even though it will probably be quite hot here until November arrives. I am SO excited for fall and cooler weather to arrive, but not before enjoying the last of summer. Here are some items that I would love to wear/get my hands on before summer ends:

Blueberry Galette

In this last month's adventures in baking, I attempted a blueberry galette - and it was a success! I had leftover pie dough from the peach pie I did {check out here}, and so I used this Bon Appétit recipe to create the filling and from there it was super easy. Galettes are so simple, and don't require much technique {AKA, perfect for a very amateur baker like myself} so I think this might be a go-to when I need to make something from scratch that requires little effort.
