Fashion + Philanthropy Friday

Happy Friday! This week's Fashion + Philanthropy product is from a brand that makes my favorite lipstick - MAC Cosmetics.  Their Viva Glam line of lip colors are not only gorgeous, they give back! Since 1994, 100% of the proceeds from the purchase of one of their Viva Glam lipsticks has gone towards the MAC AIDS Fund which provides support to men, women, and children living with HIV and AIDS.  Purchase the Viva Glam I shade {here}, but be sure to check out the rest of the lip colors {here}.  Red lips never looked  and felt so good!

Thankful

Happy Thanksgiving! This year I am thankful for friends, family, my dog, Great Lakes Christmas Ale, GOOD FOOD, and almost being done with my Master's degree.  Enjoy the holiday! :)

Winter Legs

Some people dread winter, but I actually like it and one of the reasons why is because I can wear one of my favorite accessories - tights!  Tights can add a unique twist or pop of color to any outfit, and I especially like wearing unique patterns around the holidays.  Below is a collage of my current favorites - which ones do you like best?

Vintage

I absolutely adore antiques and vintage pieces {note the antique Saks hat box!}, and one of my all-time favorite finds was this brown clutch from Flower Child in the Short North.  It's genuine leather and was made in Hungary, and has this delicate gold chain strap that makes it truly unique.  What is your favorite vintage find?

Sparkle + Statement

This week officially kicks off the holiday season, and I couldn't be more excited about it! When it comes to holiday style this year, I am OBSESSED with statement pieces.  Basically every outfit I have planned involves a statement necklace or earrings, and I would love to add to my jewelry repertoire for Thanksgiving, Christmas, and all of the holiday parties in between.  Below are my FAVORITE sparkly statement pieces I am dying to own - which one would you rock this holiday season?

Fashion + Philanthropy Friday

Happy Friday! Buy a necklace, and build a clinic! With the purchase of an Anna Beck  "Circle of Life" necklace {here}, you can do just that.  100% of the proceeds from the purchase of one these necklaces goes to Bumi Sehat, a charity that exists solely on donations and builds clinics to provide healthcare for women and children, along with community, educational, and environmental programs.  Shop the other necklaces from this beautiful and inspiring collection {here}!

Envelope Clutch

I love the simplicity of an envelope clutch, and my absolute favorite is the one I own by Jessica Jensen.  It is so chic, and I love the oxblood shade that is perfect for the holiday season.  Mine is the petite-size, and although this color is no longer available, I LOVE {this} color found currently on their site.  Also, I am in the market for a chic black clutch and {this} one is pretty perfect {and affordable}! Check out all of Jessica Jensen's envelope clutches in both sizes {here}.

Plaid

This plaid jacket has been one of my favorite pieces I've been wearing this fall.  It's quite warm, and the cinched waist gives it just the right feminine touch.  It was the perfect piece to wear while venturing out to the Rockies - and seeing snow for the first time this season!

Mountain Woman

When I think of the phrase "Mountain Man", I think of a burly guy with a beard and flannel.  When I think of "Mountain Woman," I think of pretty much the same thing - minus the beard and just a little more chic.  Over the last year, I have incorporated flannel more and more into my wardrobe, and I am often surprised at how feminine and fashionable it can be.  Below is my visualization of what a "Mountain Woman" would look like: slightly rugged with GREAT accessories :)

#ManiMonday

Happy Mani Monday! I recently discovered and tried SpaRitual nail polish, and I LOVE it! It's vegan and all-natural {made without harsh chemicals!}, but what I love best is that it LASTS.  It didn't chip for days, and I love the mint color.  This is a nail polish brand I am totally sold on! Buy SpaRitual's "Moss" shade {here}.

Fashion + Philanthropy Friday

By now most people have heard about the devastation in The Philippines from massive storm Typhoon Haiyan.  It's difficult to even comprehend the magnitude of the loss and destruction, but it is amazing to see how many people are offering a helping hand in so many ways.  A wonderful way to provide support to people displaced from the storm is through the purchase of this FEED t-shirt {buy here}, which provides 10 emergency meals to children and families.  FEED is such an incredible brand that helps so many people and nations, so it is no surprise they have done their part in supporting The Philippines in their desperate time of need.

Red

When it comes to the lip gloss vs. lipstick debate, I am 100% a lipstick girl.  I mostly own neutral shades, but I have come to love red lipstick.  I was intimidated at first to try it, so I started with a more mild shade {MAC's Viva Glam Cyndi Lauper}.  I now feel fully confident to rock a bright red lip so I acquired NARS' "Heat Wave" and absolutely love it - can't wait to wear these shades throughout the holiday season! What's your favorite shade of red lipstick?

Dainty

I love the dainty jewelry trend that is happening right now, especially for earrings.  My mom bought me these Heartstrings Studio earrings from the Portland Saturday Market last year {purchase on Etsy here}, and I absolutely love them!  They're classic and go with everything.  They especially look good next to some fresh flowers from Rose Bredl, my FAVORITE florist in Columbus :)

Steals and Deals

For anyone that knows me, you know there are few things that make me happier than a SALE.  Whenever I shop, whether it's online or in store, I ALWAYS hit the sale or clearance section first.  Today I am sharing a few items that are on sale and I am SO tempted to buy! Nothing like a few deals to make your Monday a little less dreary :)

Fashion + Philanthropy Friday

Happy Friday! This week's Fashion + Philanthropy item is a gorgeous scarf found on The Little Market's site.  The Little Market, founded by Lauren Conrad and Hannah Skvarla, seeks to create partnerships with women artisans around the world to allow them to provide for themselves and their families.  All products are fair trade and handmade by talented women across the globe; this alpaca knit scarf {here} was made by women of Quechua and Aymara in Bolivia through Asociacion de Artesanos Andinos.  I love the idea of empowering women through fashion :)

Little Black Dress: Day to Night

A little black dress is a necessary staple for any woman's wardrobe, especially one that can take you from day to night.  Kamali Kulture's sleeveless peplum dress is my idea of the perfect LBD that can both appropriate for a day in the office and a night on the town.  Purchase this dress {here}, and be sure to check out the rest of Kamali Kulture's gorgeous and affordable items!

Fall Bike Ride

Although I am not much of a biker {or not much of an athlete in general}, I had so much fun  riding bikes in Denver's PERFECT fall weather this past weekend! The temperature was just warm enough so I didn't need a coat, and could wear this striped, long-sleeve shirt I've been pretty much living in this season.  I also added my red FEED x Target scarf for a pop of color :)

COACH Footwear

I know Coach is known for their handbags, but have you checked out their shoe selection lately? Amazing! Shopping for footwear is a huge challenge for me; I constantly debate whether to splurge on a pair that lasts, or to opt for a more affordable pair.  I think Coach offers fair prices for the quality - they aren't astronomically priced, but their shoes are just gorgeous! Whether it's a classic pump or a fun color, Coach's selection is pretty fab!

Fashion + Philanthropy Friday

Happy Friday! This week I wanted to include something a little different - men's fashion! I love a man in a bow tie, especially when it has to do with supporting marriage equality.  The $25 purchase of this bow tie from The Tie Bar {buy here} allows for $20 to be donated to Tie the Knot.  Tie the Knot is an organization founded by Jesse Tyler Ferguson and Justin Mikita that uses fashion to promote the civil rights of gays and lesbians in the United States.  Can't think of a better way for a man to look good while supporting an amazing cause!
